We all know that when you buy an old house, you can expect a lot of surprises. Often expensive ones (no doubt there'll be more on those later). But sometimes you can also find some little treasures. It's only since buying the place that we have been able to have a good poke under the carpets / dust / grime, and have been pleased to find...

Oh I love that greeny brown tile. (And I've just found some really good cleaning stuff for floor tiles I'll bring some over next time I come).
Thanks! Not sure about how the colours work with the crazy floor tiles, which I guess will be quite bright after a good scrub.
We're rethinking the whole kitchen thing and wondering about putting it in the basement (2 rooms, open plan with big table, leading directly out to garden at the back). Could be nice but cold underfoot... We'll be crouching around the wood burning stove half the year (oh yes, there will be a wood burning stove..)
